Well I nuked opensuse off of my desktop and put ubuntu 9.10 on it. I was liking opensuse but ran up against too many things which I just could not figure out how to do. Mostly things related to installing soft ware. The debian way of doing things just seems easier.

Desktop update

November 19, 2009

I have removed windows 7 beta from my desktop.  I have not been  home very much and have not used my desktop in a while.  I had been having some trouble with the networking.  The cable was bad.   I have replaced the cable and it is working again.  I replaced windows 7 with opensuse 11.2 with the KDE desktop.   I have wanted to try opensuse and kde for quite a while so I figured that this was as good a time as any.  Opensuse seems to be quite useable.  I just got it installed and the network working tonight.  I will have to spend some time with it over the next several days.  I might end up  going back to ubuntu  but  we shall see.

I gave my acer aspire 3680 laptop to my neice.  I am planning on getting a new laptop in april.  In the mean time I will be using my desktop computer and my netbook.  I am planning on installing linux on my Imac.  0s 9.2.2 sucks big time.  I don’t have thee money to buy os X.

I have downloaded several PPC linux distros and will be playing with all of them to see what I can get to work.

Open suse 11.1, ubuntu 9.10, debian

Ubuntu netbook remix

September 27, 2009

I downloaded Ubuntu Netbook Remix and copied it to a spare flashdrive. I am currently running it off of the flashdrive on my Acer Aspire One Net book. I like it. At this point it seems very useable.

Windows 7 Experiment

September 15, 2009

I am seriously thinking about doing away with windows 7.  I am finding it to be very sluggish.  That really irritates me.  My computer has a 2.53 gig a hertz processor and 2 gig of ram.  It should fly.

Dual boot configured

September 3, 2009

Well I have my desktop computer running  windows 7 and vector linux lite.  Somewhere along the lines the lite version of vector linux ceased to be lite.

Linux decision

September 2, 2009

I have decided to shave off about 4 gig off of the end of the drive on my desktop which is currently running windows 7 and install vector linux lite.  I have to have a linux option.  My computer just doesn’t feel right without it.  I am currently downloading the iso on my  laptops ubuntu install.  I will probably burn it and perform the install tonight.

another windows 7 post

September 2, 2009

I am still using and will continue to use windows 7 for a while. I am finding it to be just another version of windows though. Every time I boot it up I am tempted to nuke it and put linux back on my desktop. I think I am very hooked on linux.

Still Using Windows 7

September 1, 2009

For the moment I am still using windows 7.  It is not bad.  I still don’t like the start bar.   The only driver issue that I had was minor and easily fixed.  Windows 7 give my computer a 1 out of 7.  Based off of my low ancient video card I guess.
